Expansion Part Four! Turner's loose!

Ritual #1

So that "Sneak Peak" I posted a few days ago was from the first issue of Ritual, my new comic being published by Revival House Press. Each issue will be a stand alone story, the first of which is called Real Life, and is a horror story of sorts. It's set in the present day, in a kind of average town, which is new for me.

...And don't worry, I know I've been talking about a lot of new projects recently, (and there are still some more to come soon) but Expansion Part 4 is still happening and on its way. I'll post up some images in the coming week.

Study Group Magazine

I've got a comic in Study Group Magazine! The story connects obliquely to one of my Mome contributions, and not so obliquely to my short comic "Top Five". But more importantly, this anthology features comics by Trevor Alixopluos, Chris Cilla, Michael DeForge, David King, Aidan Kock, Jonny Negron, Jennifer Parks, Zack Soto, and Daria Tessler, plus an interview with Craig Thompson, a profile of Brecht Evans, and covers by Eleanor Davis!

If you live in New York you should absolutely go to the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Fest this Saturday and pick up a copy. I really wish I could go, but I'm stuck out here on the west coast.

Inking Exercise

Sometimes when I have ideas to sift through I do exercises that end up taking too much time. I've been wanting to try inking over a contemporary superhero comics page, so last night I gave it a shot. The penciled page is by Paolo Rivera from Daredevil #1. Daredevil has been a fantastic example of what a superhero comic should be, and a lot of that is because of Rivera's art. As for my inking attempt, I think I did... okay. It was fun though!

APE 2011!

Everybody! I'm going to be at the Alternative Press Expo this weekend, sharing a half table with Matt Sheean. We'll be at table 254A, with the brand new penultimate issue of Expansion! I'll also have some new prints, aside from my usual comic offerings. In addition to that, I'll be signing Mome 22's over at the Fantagraphics table: 12-1pm on both days. Seeya there!
